Eucharist is the central Sacrament of our faith.
It is the memorial of Christ’s Passover, the work of salvation accomplished by the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, a work made present by the liturgical action. The Holy Eucharist is the sacrament in which we receive the Body and Blood of Christ.
Preparation for First Holy Communion
The preparation period for a child or teen to receive First Holy Communion is ALWAYS two years at the Parish, regardless of when the child begins the program.
Preparation can begin in the first grade. If the child does not begin the Religious Education Program until they are in the second grade, they will go into the FIRST YEAR (Not first grade) class for Communion. This class will have first and second graders in the class.
Second Year (not second grade) Holy Communion is for second and third graders who are in their SECOND year of Religious Education.
If a child begins Religious Education in the third grade or higher, they will be placed in that same grade here at the Parish for their first year of preparation.
Children who are in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades who are in their second year of preparation, are ALL in Monday classes at 4:30 pm where we use a text book designed for older children to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.
Middle School students, who are in their second year of preparation will attend 3 special classes in February, taught by Mike Wickham, to prepare them to receive the Sacraments.
Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are such special days in the life of your child and your family. We look forward with great joy in sharing these blessed moments with your entire family.
